The Review - 5 NEW Tracks to Listen to Right Meow
In lieu of a new full-length album to review this week, I’m going to give you 5 tracks that cover a wide spectrum AND that you should give a listen to this weekend. All of the tracks appear on albums soon to be released, which shows that the already great year of music from 2015 shows no signs of slowing through the stretch run.
First up is a new solo song from Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell, ‘Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart’. The song taken from Cornell’s fourth solo album, Higher Truth, due out September 18th. Really interesting (good!) song from Cornell. Various instruments and new sounds give Cornell a fresh sound here.
Lana Del Ray returns with her second single, ‘High By The Beach’. Beach is a more accessible and enjoyable track then the lead single ‘Honeymoon.’
Iron Maiden returns with their first single from The Book Of Souls, called ‘Speed Of Light’. If you missed their last album ‘The Final Frontier’ I highly recommend going back and listening . . . great music that will tie you over until Souls is released.
Who are The Arcs? Led by one half of The Black Keys, Dan Auerbach. ‘Put A Flower In Your Pocket’ from the debut album, Yours, Dreamily. If you haven’t been burned out with The Black Keys take over of rock radio and festivals, and I have most certainly have not been, then given what we hear from ‘The Arcs’ you’ll be excited for this bands upcoming release.
‘Willing & Able’ taken from their second album, Caracal. They keep on dropping tracks ahead of Caracal, making this the fourth. It is another solid one from the Disclosure Boys and balances out the Maiden!
What do 4 out of 5 of these tracks have in common? I heard them all FIRST on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio shows last week. If you haven’t checked him out and like new music discovery (or just listening to a guy having a ton of fun at what he does) then it’s time to give it a shot. Weekdays 9am – 11am. Next week I’m planning to review the new album, High Country, from The Sword. I also enjoyed putting together this quick 5 song ‘mix-tape’ and think it is something I may keep compiling.
