Riff Picks - 6 Bands to Hear at Rifflandia

Rifflandia 2015 kicks off on Thursday and we couldn’t be more excited. Our batteries are charged and our bags are packed, so let’s get going! This year’s Rifflandia is extra special and extra over whelming because they are joined with Breakout West, which means there are literally (figuratively) millions of great acts you can see all over the city of Victoria.

With so many great performances it’s hard to look at the list and try to decide who you want to see. So we have picked out our top six acts to catch.

Mother Mother

This isn’t their first time at Rifflandia and I sure hope it isn’t their last. What I like about seeing Mother Mother live is how fun they look. Like they are genuinely having a good time and they want you to be having a good time too.

They play at Royal Athletic Park Sunday at 7:15.

Chromeo

This dance landen duo has a great vibe and will give you no choice but to get your groove on!

Catch them at the Royal Athletic Park Friday night at 7:45!

Jesse Roper

Jesse Roper is a hometown hero for a reason. His music great but his live performances are INSANE! His crazy Metchosin fans even jumped the stage at Sunfest dodging security guards around Jesse while he continued to shred his guitar solo. Not that we’re advocating for people to so that, but it was really funny.

Jesse has two shows at Rifflandia one on Saturdays at The Atrium at 11:30 am and one at the Royal Athletic Park Main stage Sunday at 3:05. If you have to pick between one of these two I’d go for the Main stage because it is guaranteed that he will be bringing the full show there!

Holleredo

I've seen this band a few times now. The best by far was at the Tall Tree Music Festival. A bunch a great guys have the time of their life playing some great modern rock.

They play the Royal Athletic Park Mainstage at 4:15. Sunday is going to be awesome.

Illvis Freshly

These guys are weird, but fun. They rocked out the side stage at Tall Tree and had everyone dancing in the middle of the dusty day. Their song Zizo is the theme to the 2015 Tall Tree slip and slide video. And basically I just think they’re really funny.

They play the Sunset Room Friday at 11:30pm.

Little Hurricane

I haven't seen or heard much of this band. But what I have heard, I love. This blues fuelled duo will certainly light the Copper Owl on Friday night at 12:30 am which is technically Saturday but we won't hold that against them.
