Yukon Blonde @ The Vogue - Review

Last Friday Yukon Blonde and Hey Rosetta sold out the Vogue Theatre. We had no problem getting tickets because we bought them the day they went on sale in August. Why? Because it turns out that Daniel and I are Yukon Blonde superfans.

This is the third time this year that we’ve seen Yukon Blonde (when we mentioned this to lead singer Jeff Innes in the lobby, he responded with “How? How is that even possible”). Seeing them at Tall Tree Music Festival, the Khatsahlano Street Festival and now inside at the Vogue Theatre has deffs cemented a love for this Vancouver band.

But let’s talk about the show. They opened with some technical difficulties that I felt they breezed through really well, however some of the technical crew were visually a little pushy towards the band, I bet they were feeling the heat in the moment. Their first song was “Confused,” which is also the first song off their new album “On Blonde” it contains their signature “oooeeeoooeeeooo” sound.

They played all my favourites, “Saturday Night,” “Confused,” “Favourite People” and “I Wanna be You Man” which they just released a music video for. Daniel was missing “Water” off their 2011 EP, but you can’t win them all.

Set List:

  • Confused

  • Make You Mine

  • Como

  • Wind Blows

  • Hannah

  • Radio

  • Saturday Night

  • I Wanna Be Your Man

  • Favourite People

  • Stairway

Hey Rosetta! had an awesome set. Tin foil and old school light bulbs coming up from the floor emitting and reflecting a golden light. It was beautiful, but we were there to see Yukon Blonde and that’s what this post is about.
