Alabama Shakes ‘SOUND & COLOR’
Their debut album comes packed with a massive single like ‘Hold On’ and quickly became easy to dismiss as a potential ‘one-hit wonder’ band. But that was not the fate for Alabama Shakes. The brilliant follow-up to 2012’s 'Boys & Girls' pushes the Shakes into new territory while still keeping your ears in awe of lead singers Brittany Howard’s unmistakable voice. ‘Sound & Color’ runs the range from rock & roll ‘The Greatest’ to the minimalistic title track ‘Sound & Color’. Slow builders like ‘Gimme All Your Love’ sound amazing here and remind me of bluesy side of The Black Keys. By the time ‘Gimme All Your Love’ builds to Howard’s vocal return around the 3:30 mark you can’t help but hear the greatness this band has become.
